Quite Simply French Wins 2020 Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award for Restaurants
Recognised World Based on Outstanding 2019 Traveller/Diner Reviews
Today it has been announced that we have been recognised as a 2020 Travellers’ Choice award-winner for Restaurants. Based on a full year of Tripadvisor reviews, prior to any changes caused by the pandemic, award winners are known for consistently receiving great traveller/diner feedback, placing them in the top 10% of hospitality businesses around the globe.
Here’s what Rob had to say, when he heard…“We are absolutely delighted and honoured to have been given this award. It is a testament to my amazing team and their dedication to our customers. My philosophy when it comes to food and hospitality is always serve the best and always be at your best. Treat customers like family how you would like to be treated. Smile always.
Over the last few months we have made a considerable investment to make sure we will be super safe for our customers and our staff with changes both in the layout of the restaurant and in what we offer on our menus. We have been awarded Visit Britain’s ‘We’re Good To Go’ industry standard and supporting mark having carried out a COVID-19 risk assessment and we are also Navitas Coronavirus Control Certified. Our loyal customers have been returning to our restaurant and our boutique hotel, taking advantage of our great Staycation Offers for Dinner, Bed & Breakfast. We have also launched QSF To Go offering customers a luxury dine at home, click and collect service with a range of favourite dishes, cooked fresh to order. We’re a place that honours what everyone cares about. Staff and customers alike.”
“Winners of the 2020 Travelers’ Choice Awards should be proud of this distinguished recognition,” said Kanika Soni, Chief Commercial Officer at Tripadvisor. “Although it’s been a challenging year for travel and hospitality, we want to celebrate our partners’ achievements. Award winners are beloved for their exceptional service and quality. Not only are these winners well deserving, they are also a great source of inspiration for travelers/diners as the world begins to venture out again.”
A Thank You from NHS to QSF

“Honestly, what an exceptionally amazing hotel this is. Where do I even begin? If you’re thinking of paying a visit to Lancaster and you are needing somewhere to stay, Quite Simply French has to be the one.
Trust me, there are so many amazing things I can say about this hotel and its kind-hearted owner Robert Mason. Not only did Rob give up his hotel for me, he also accommodated other doctors and nurses who had to leave their homes in order to help our great NHS. I feel so lucky and blessed to have been given the opportunity to stay in this beautiful hotel for absolutely NO cost at all for 3 months during the covid-19 pandemic and I have to say this has been the best room that I have ever stayed in!
If only I could take this room back home with me! There are no words to describe how much I have enjoyed my stay here at the amazing QSF. The room, well WOW! Beautifully decorated boutique style, an extremely comfortable bed and the way everything just fits into place is just simply perfect. Even the simplest of things like the pillows and the duvet were so luxurious that meant after long stressful shifts and seeing countless patients, I always looked forward to having a beautiful sleep every night. The added bath was a beautiful bonus.
The images you see online only give you a partial glimpse of reality as you really do need to see it to believe the sheer opulence that the hotel reflects. Even during lockdown, room service still continued. The hospitality that Rob and his team showed was truly heart-warming. He always made sure that throughout the stay I was always comfortable and ensured that clean linen, towels and bedding were cleaned to hotel standards.
If anyone out there reads this review, and your mind is unsure, just go for it. Not only will you be guaranteed to enjoy your stay, but you will be supporting a local business that has definitely been there for our beloved NHS during the Covid-19 pandemic.”

New Year Spruce Up

From the day we opened (1st December 1996) as Lancaster’s best Restaurant, we have invested in Quite Simply French and this year is no different. Our stairs and upstairs restaurant have had a fabulous makeover courtesy of Michael Ellis Painting and Decorating.
“I can not praise Michael and his team enough. They delivered the project on time and on budget and their attention to detail and pride in their work is second to none. They were a delight to work with, nothing was too much trouble. I would absolutely recommend them” Robert Mason
There number of things that are key to creating a successful restaurant.
Great Food
Great food is key of a successful restaurant. This one is a no-brainer. No matter what you do, if the food at your restaurant is not great, people will not return.
Staff Satisfaction
Behind a successful, well-functioning restaurant, there is an efficient and loyal team. A happy team is a productive team.
Guest Experience
Excellent customer service is an inherent trait of a successful restaurant business. Customer service constitutes the entire customer experience, right from the politeness and helpfulness of the staff, to the service—how soon the food arrives, the price of the dishes and restaurant ambiance.

Pancake Day, or Shrove Tuesday, is the traditional feast day before the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday. It was the last opportunity to use up eggs and fats before embarking on the Lenten fast and pancakes are the perfect way of using up these ingredients.
A pancake is a thin, flat cake, made of batter and fried in a frying pan. A traditional English pancake is very thin and is served immediately. Golden syrup or lemon juice and caster sugar are the usual toppings for pancakes. The pancake has a very long history and featured in cookery books as far back as 1439.

“Quite Simply French is quite simply the best restaurant in the area, serving a wonderful and regularly changing menu of delicious food served in a really lovely setting, full of character. The staff are the nicest people you could possibly meet and it isn’t by accident that regular customers return time after time. For many years my family has regularly dined at QSF, and on special occasions, and always at Christmas Eve, when the atmosphere is particularly special.”
